Recipe courtesy – Suhara Ahamed
Ingredients:
Broken wheat / samba wheat: 2 cups (soak overnight)
Mutton or chicken (boneless): 250 gm
Cinnamon: 2 small pieces
Cloves: 2
Cardamom: 2
Salt: to taste
Coconut milk: 2 cups
For garnish:
Shallots: 5-6 (finely chopped)
Raisins: a few
Cashew nuts: a few
Instructions
1.Soak the wheat overnight
2.Pressure cook wheat with mutton, salt (don’t add too much, since this can also be served as a sweet dish) and the whole spices for about 30 minutes
3.Mash well. You can also blend it in a mixer
4.Add 2 cups of coconut milk and cook on a low flame for 10-15 minutes (Make sure you stir constantly to avoid the mixture sticking to the pan)
5.Fry the shallots till they are golden brown and also fry the cashews and raisins for the garnish. Top the aleesa with this.
6.Serve it with sugar or as a side with chicken roast
